About Foresight

Foresight is a tool that helps to look into the future. Trends are analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively, and technological developments are evaluated. Special focus: New technologies that change markets and enable innovations. In Thuringia, the regional innovation strategy provides for using foresight to identify technologies, trends, and developments at an early stage – and to use the knowledge specifically for strategic decisions.

Goals of Foresight

As a central instrument of Thuringia's Regional Innovation Strategy (RIS), Foresight helps to expand regional strengths, open up new innovation fields, and develop a resilient innovation ecosystem. The basis is formed by the five specialization fields defined in the RIS Thuringia. The results of Foresight are made available to all Thuringian stakeholders and feed into strategy development, funding policy, and research and development projects.
