About Foresight

Foresight is a tool that helps us look into the future. Trends are analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively, and technological developments are evaluated. The focus is particularly on new technologies that change markets and enable innovation. In Thuringia, the regional innovation strategy envisions using foresight to identify technologies, trends, and developments early on – and to apply this knowledge strategically for decision-making.

Goals of Foresight

As a central instrument of Thuringia's Regional Innovation Strategy (RIS), Foresight contributes to expanding regional strengths, developing new fields of innovation, and cultivating a resilient innovation ecosystem. It is based on the five areas of specialization defined in the Thuringian RIS. The results of Foresight are made available to all stakeholders in Thuringia and are incorporated into strategy development, funding policies, and research and development projects.
