Innovative therapy platforms and biomimetics for personalized medicine and targeted drug development

Personalized drug development utilizes RNA-based therapeutics, gene therapy, and CRISPR delivery for tailored treatment of diseases. Biomimetic and nanobased systems improve drug delivery through nanocarriers, microneedle patches, and theranostic systems, while advances in cancer therapy, organ- and cell-based therapeutics, as well as diagnostic imaging and monitoring, open up new possibilities for precise and efficient therapies. Prerequisites for this are extensive pretesting and individual patient characterization. To achieve medical success, high-resolution analytics and advances in biotechnological and chemical research (novel developments in the field of drug discovery, point-of-care diagnostics, etc.) are required.

Challenges

The high complexity is also due to the fact that expertise from biotechnology, nanotechnology and materials science must be incorporated, meaning research and development must be interdisciplinary.
