The security and defense industry is coming into the public focus not only because of its national importance, but it is also increasingly becoming a relevant economic factor: A reliable security architecture is the foundation for freedom, democracy and economic prosperity. Thuringian companies can make an important contribution to this through innovative products and technologies. Due to the investments planned for the coming years in defense and security technology – the federal government alone has set aside a special fund of 100 billion euros to finance major projects in key technologies and to modernize Bundeswehr equipment – it is important to identify the opportunities for the Thuringian economy in this area without prejudice.
