Location Investing & Relocating
Around 300 participants from the fields of politics, research, the German Armed Forces and business came together in Erfurt on June 10, 2026 for the 2nd Forum on Security and Defense Technology.
The forum discussed and highlighted opportunities for Thuringian companies in the defense and security sector. These opportunities arise from the high investment needs of the German Armed Forces and other armed forces, particularly in the areas of optics, sensors, electronics, mechanical engineering, and IT. The focus was on topics such as the German Armed Forces' procurement programs, batteries as a key factor in security and defense matters, regulatory requirements, and entry points for suppliers. An accompanying exhibition featuring over 30 companies and start-up pitches provided further impetus for collaborations.
The high level of response underlines the growing interest in the future market; further networking activities are already planned.
