Thinking in networks: The future of Thuringian mobility.
The Thuringian Mobility Network (TMN) focuses on institutionalizing exchange, communication, and knowledge transfer in the mobility sector of the Free State. The declared goal is to shape a future-oriented, efficient mobility for Thuringia.
On the one hand, innovative solutions are being developed in the TMN, particularly for mobility in rural areas, which form the basis for the subsequent implementation of pilot projects. On the other hand, strategic impulses for transport policy are being developed in the areas of demographic change, climate change and the changing mobility needs of the population.
To achieve these goals, the members of the working groups and the steering committee contribute, which are composed of a diverse range of actors from the mobility industry in Thuringia. The Thuringian Ministry for Digital Affairs and Infrastructure enables and promotes the exchange of TMN actors by establishing and supporting numerous participation formats, such as regular working group meetings and public events. Furthermore, TMN engages in substantive exchange with the mobility networks of other federal states.

Vision 400/10
- Vision 400/10 = Vision to build 400 km of cycle paths in 10 years
- Goal of the working group: contribution to the construction and upgrading of the cycling infrastructure
- The basis is the everyday cycling main route network with additions
- The vision forms a bracket for the other projects of the working group
Study Bike & Ride
- Goal: Better integration of cycling with other modes of transport.
- Funding should initially be provided based on concrete examples.
- Model projects as a basis for future funding of municipal projects.
- Integration of public transport in cycle path monitoring is taken into account.

Solar-covered cycle paths
- Development of innovative financing models for cycle paths.
- Working group as a think tank for creative ideas.
- Goal: Solar-covered bike paths that self-finance through solar cells and generate profits.
- Revenues are to be reinvested in the expansion of cycling infrastructure.
School country homes as cycling centers
- Idea for a cooperation project with Thuringian school boarding houses to improve the motor skills of students, especially when cycling.
- Integration of cycling through extracurricular learning and instruction by trained teachers
- Cooperation partners to support the training courses.
- Role models: Bikepool Hessen and the cycling center Rappershausen in Bavaria.
Projects
Within the Thuringian Mobility Network, various projects are pursued within the working groups. The ideas and competencies for planning and future realization arise from the working group members, their expertise, and their networking within their industries.

The TMDI initiated the network and works closely with other partners. The goal is to leverage the strength of this alliance to implement concrete measures precisely and swiftly.
Political Advisory Board
The Political Advisory Board of the Thuringian Mobility Network, established on March 18, 2026, primarily has an advisory function. The committee serves as a political sounding board and is intended to provide recommendations, e.g., on legislative proposals.
Members of all parliamentary groups in the Thuringian state parliament participate in the advisory board and are invited to use their ideas and suggestions to shape a policy of enablement that tangibly improves people's everyday mobility.
Thuringia's Minister for Digital Affairs and Infrastructure, Steffen Schütz (Chairman of the Advisory Board), appealed on the occasion of the constituent meeting: “Through the cooperation of science, transport companies, municipalities and the state, different professional expertise and political experiences can be used for the Thuringian Mobility Network and the overall transport policy interest of Thuringia can be placed in the focus across party lines.“
