What does the working group do?

The name of the working group “Living and Life in the City“ stands for the complexity of the task of sustainably strengthening city centers. The initiation and establishment of the working group since the founding of the alliance was associated with the goal of creating an efficient working structure for the development of sustainable strategies and integrating the diverse actors necessary for the process. The working group meets at regular intervals for consultations, professional exchange, know-how transfer, and the development of pilot projects. By March 2023, a total of 11 working group meetings had taken place.

Goals

The sustainable strengthening of the functional capacity of Thuringia's city centers is a central goal of the working group's efforts within the action alliance. With reference to the current challenges in the sustainable realignment of Thuringia's city centers, the working group engages in comprehensive information exchange and know-how transfer, as well as the conception and development of pilot projects and measures of a model character that are intended to be applicable in Thuringia's large, medium-sized, and small towns. In doing so, it builds on the experiences and results in the field of urban development across the different city types and focuses on priority fields of action and measures.
