Brief introduction of the alliance partner

The Thuringian State Working Group (LAG) for Sociocultural Initiatives represents the interests of Thuringian sociocultural centers and independent cultural initiatives. Since 1993, we have supported our now over 85 members through expert advice, training, and networking, raised public awareness of sociocultural work, and advocated for better framework conditions at the cultural policy level.

Since 2008, the LAG has awarded the KULTURRIESE annually, the prize for socio-culture in Thuringia.

Focus of the alliance partner within the framework of the alliance

For socio-cultural initiatives, city centers have always been key areas of focus. Here, new cultural formats are tested in public spaces, the fight for non-commercial cultural spaces is waged, and societal issues are addressed. Enabling culture is a crucial factor for livable and attractive city centers. Through projects and events, the association has consistently addressed the issues of (inner) cities, networked across different levels, and supported its stakeholders in urban spaces. Key tasks within the alliance include: simplifying permitting processes for cultural institutions and events, adapting legal frameworks to cultural needs (building regulations, noise control), and establishing modern funding programs (e.g., for noise protection and investments).
