Welcome. A welcome message from LEG management

Dear readers,

a special start to the school year, the accompaniment of a major sporting mega-event, and the awarding of outstanding entrepreneurial achievements – these were some of the outstanding projects of our company in the past year that have been included in this annual report. It provides insight into our diverse activities in the areas of business development, skilled worker recruitment, site development, real estate management, and urban and regional management.

Newly launched in the 2024 reporting period was the German Professional School (GPS), which was founded on the initiative of the Ministry of Economics and is based at LEG. It offers people coming here from abroad courses to acquire German language level B2 and to understand politics and society in Thuringia, as well as intensive career coaching, with the aim that as many graduates as possible take up vocational training in Thuringia after finishing the school year. The GPS thus makes an important contribution to attracting skilled workers for our economy.

Another „highlight“ of the past year was the stay of the German and English national teams at the Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land (Blankenhain) during the European Football Championship. The LEG supported this with a series of measures to upgrade the infrastructure – this involved managing an interdisciplinary competition for the future urban redevelopment of Blankenhain's town center, as well as the redesign of the sports facility in the town for use as an alternative venue for national team training camps, and the renovation and enhancement of the castle forecourt as part of the interim use of the historic Blankenhain Castle as a media center. As part of the German team's training camp, there was the opportunity to visit the public training session at the Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld in Jena; we combined that on the day with the annual event of our marketing campaign „Hidden Champions – Thuringia's world market and technology leaders“, at which companies were honored for achieving top performance and being at the forefront of the market.

In the meantime, the DFB has sealed a partnership with Thuringia, according to which its football teams will regularly take up quarters in Blankenhain, and 100 Thuringian companies have now been awarded the title of Hidden Champions – both of which are an expression of the performance and future viability of the Thuringia location. With countless other activities and projects – for which we account below for the year 2024 – we will continue to make diverse contributions in the future so that the Free State can advance on its successful path. For more than three decades, we have been committed to strengthening Thuringia as a business and technology location and to increasing the quality of life in the Free State. To this end, we attract investors and develop industrial sites, support local companies in their foreign business, help unlock innovation potential, and contribute to the recruitment of skilled workers for the local economy. In addition, we develop residential building land for home builders, realize complex real estate projects, and engage in urban and regional development.

We do this throughout Thuringia and in the network with many partners – if there are opportunities for beneficial cooperation or we can support you with your projects, do not hesitate to contact us, we look forward to a good collaboration.
