The €49 ticket is leading to higher passenger numbers, especially in cities. In rural areas, however, such services are often lacking. In the Saale-Orla district, a new on-demand bus service is now intended to make bus travel more attractive.
The Ortenau district is launching a survey on public transport: According to District Administrator Frank Scherer, the main goal is to introduce hourly public transport services throughout the district from five o'clock in the morning until midnight.
Since October, only one bus line has been running through Hörnitz, which significantly reduces service, especially during school holidays. Such frustration with public transport is widespread throughout the southern part of the district, as shown by the SZ Mobility Compass.
