Attracting trainees from third countries for the care sector

Nursing Trainee Directive Thuringia

The Nursing Trainee Directive of the Free State of Thuringia supports Thuringian nursing facilities in recruiting trainees from third countries for training in nursing. The aim of the funding program is to contribute to securing skilled workers in Thuringia.

Funding at a Glance

  • Funding for the recruitment and preparation of trainees from third countries
  • Support for Thuringian nursing facilities in filling training positions
  • Grant for recognized eligible measures in connection with the recruitment of trainees

Eligible in particular are expenses incurred in connection with the recruitment and preparation of trainees from third countries for training as a nursing professional under the Nursing Professions Act (PflBG) in Thuringia.

These include, among others:

  • language preparation in the country of origin,
  • attraction and recruitment of trainees,
  • other measures eligible under the directive.

The provisions of the respectively valid Nursing Trainee Directive are authoritative.

Eligible to apply are in particular:

  • Companies in the care sector with their registered office or a branch in Thuringia,
  • outpatient and inpatient care facilities,
  • other facilities and services in the care sector, provided that the requirements of the guideline are met.

The funding is granted as a non-repayable subsidy within the framework of project funding.

According to the currently applicable guideline, a subsidy in the amount of 5,000 euros per recruited trainee or training position may be granted.

There is no legal entitlement to funding. The competent approval authority decides on the approval within the framework of the applicable regulations and the available budget funds.

The measures can be carried out by external service providers or through self-performance.

External Service Providers

Commissioning an external service provider is only possible if it has been recognized by ThAFF.

Self-performance

Self-performance of corresponding services also requires a successfully completed recognition procedure.
The basis for this is the current criteria catalog for the recognition of service providers and self-performers in the respective valid version.
