In January, the EU-Mercosur Free Trade Agreement signed, thus creating the world's largest free trade zone. Since May 2026, the trade part of the agreement has been in force, and the continuous reduction of tariffs and trade barriers is opening up new opportunities for German companies in the short and medium term. The delegation trip led by Minister of Economic Affairs Colette Boos-John to the Mercosur countries Argentina & Brazil is intended to help Thuringian companies Facilitating market access, their strengthen strategic positioning and help them suitable cooperation partners and identify opportunities in the region. The focus is on potential in innovation, technology, economy, and science.
