The focus is on central topics for the Thuringian aerospace industry. These include technological sovereignty, resilience of global supply chains, decarbonization, international competitive pressure, and security and defense capabilities. The conference on October 1 offers a central platform for exchange between stakeholders from industry, SMEs, research, and politics. Participants discuss the current challenges for the future of the aerospace location Thuringia. The organizers are LEG Thüringen and LRT e. V. in cooperation with JenaWirtschaft, N3 Engine Overhaul Services GmbH & Co. KG, and Jena Optronik GmbH.
The event offers lectures, expert panels, company visits, an accompanying exhibition, and many opportunities for exchange and networking. Opening remarks will be given by Thuringia's Minister of Economic Affairs, Colette Boos-John, and the Federal Government Commissioner for the Eastern States, Elisabeth Kaiser. There are three expert panels on the topics of “Civil and Military Aviation”, “Civil and Military Space Travel”, and “Digital Sovereign IT Solutions for Aviation and Space Travel”. They will be introduced by three keynotes held by Holger Sindermann, Managing Director of N3, and Peter Kapell, Managing Director of Jena Optronik.
Prof. Andreas Knopp from the University of the Bundeswehr will give a keynote speech. The topic of security and defense capability is increasingly coming into focus due to geopolitics, which opens up new opportunities for additional business relationships for Thuringian entrepreneurs from struggling industries – such as the automotive industry, for example. In fact, Thuringia has numerous medium-sized companies and research institutes that offer attractive products and services in the security and defense industry. However, for most, this is a completely new field, and the defense sector also has many regulations and rules that must be known in order to successfully work directly for the Bundeswehr or for its suppliers. The conference is also seen as an opportunity for orientation and networking in this field.
