That was the focus of the visit by a ten-member delegation from the business and public sectors from Monterrey on September 14 in Thuringia. The meeting provided space for information and personal exchange and at the same time looked ahead: to the planned Thuringian business trip to Mexico in February 2027.
Together with Invest Monterrey and Landesbank Baden-Württemberg (LBBW), we brought together Mexican guests and Thuringian business stakeholders as part of the event “Doing Business in Northern Mexico“.
The focus was on Monterrey as a major industrial location in northern Mexico. The guests from the region also provided insights into the Mexican industrial landscape and discussed concrete starting points for local engagement with the participants from Thuringia. Topics such as the North American trade agreement USMCA, trade relations between the EU and Mexico, and key aspects of market entry provided the framework for this.
Particular attention was paid to the opportunities for Thuringian companies from mechanical engineering, automation and manufacturing technologies as well as the automotive, aerospace and medical technology industries. Northern Mexico offers interesting points of contact, especially for these sectors.
The delegation's stay was rounded off by a company visit to Jenoptik Automatisierungstechnik GmbH. This took the exchange from a discussion of market conditions directly into Thuringian business practice.
Next stop: Monterrey in February 2027
The visit was also a taste of the next joint activity: From February 21 to 27, 2027, a Thuringian business trip to Mexico is planned. The aim is, among other things, the industrial metropolis of Monterrey. The programme will also include a joint visit to Expo Manufactura.
More information about the business trip in February 2027 will follow shortly…
