IAA 2023: Thüringen presents modern mobility in Munich

The Free State is represented with a joint stand at the trade fair / Many opportunities for exchange from September 5 to 8 / Stand event “Thüringen-Date” enables dialogue

ERFURT_ A sector in rapid change meets in Munich, and Thuringia is involved: At the automotive fair IAA Mobility 2023 the Free State is again represented with a joint stand. In total seven exhibitors present their competencies on site and use the opportunity to build up or expand contacts with customers and partners on one of the world's largest industry platforms Contacte. The stand is organized on behalf of the Thuringian Ministry of Economic Affairs by LEG. The fair takes place from September 5 to 8. “The automotive and mobility sector is undergoing a breathtaking transformation process – keywords here are the trends towards E-Mobility and autonomous driving“, says LEG managing director Andreas Krey. “In such phases detailed information and diverse Contacte to companies and research institutes of the sector are naturally especially important, so that the right decisions are made in the turbulent market environment. Presence events such as the IAA, the fair and specialist conference combined are indispensable .“ Opportunity for intensive exchange and getting to know each other is also offered by the “Thuringia Date“, the stand event on the evening of September 6. Registration for this is possible under https://www.leg-thueringen.de/iaa/

The following exhibitors are represented at the joint stand this year:

  • automotive thüringen e. V.
  • IBU-tec advanced materials AG (Weimar)
  • LION Smart Production GmbH (Hildburghausen)
  • Sedlmayer GmbH (Triptis)
  • TALLAG Saalfeld GmbH (Saalfeld)
  • Technik in Form Blechbearbeitung GmbH (Heilbad Heiligenstadt)
  • Thuringian Agency For Skilled Worker Recruitment (ThAFF)

The booth presents exciting solutions from the supplier industry, ranging from innovative battery systems and developments in materials research to intelligent forming and joining applications for automotive lightweight construction. The participation of ThAFF takes into account the fact that, in addition to technological challenges, the shortage of skilled workers is also an important issue for the entire industry.

Background

The International Automobile Exhibition, abbreviated as IAA, has been held with a new concept since 2021. While the IAA for passenger cars was previously focused on traditional automobile manufacturing in Frankfurt, the newly oriented IAA in Munich focuses on mobility of various kinds – with an emphasis on sustainability on the one hand and new networked solutions on the other, for example by combining different modes of transport (car, public transport, train) or implementing new user models (park-and-ride, car-sharing, on-demand buses). Accordingly, software developers, IT service providers, and urban developers are also on site at the trade fair in Munich. The exhibition grounds, which also house the Thuringian joint stand, are open to business customers (Business to Business); here, among other things, there is the opportunity to try out various modes of transport such as cars, e-scooters, and cargo bikes on test tracks and courses. In the city center, there is also a wide range of offerings for the general public (Business to Consumer).

For Thuringia, participation in the IAA is very relevant, as the automotive industry alone, according to the automotive thuringia (at) industry cluster, is one of the most important economic sectors in Thuringia with more than 12,000 employees and a turnover of almost 3.7 billion euros.
