The Rudolstadt-Schwarza industrial park is today a modern industrial location with an excellent technical infrastructure. Around 40 companies with a total of approximately 1,200 employees are currently based here, including BASF Performance Polymers, the Adolf Jass paper mill, smartpolymer GmbH, LATICO Germany GmbH, and STFG Filamente GmbH. With the Thuringian Institute for Textile and Plastics Research (TITK), the industrial park has developed into a center of excellence for renewable raw materials, functional polymers, and fibers.
The transformation from a former chemical site to an environmentally friendly industrial and commercial park began on July 1, 1994. On that day, we took over industrial land of more than 108 hectares on behalf of the Free State of Thuringia. As part of the integrated site development, contaminated sites have since been remediated, a modern supply and disposal infrastructure has been created, the transport infrastructure has been renewed and expanded, buildings worth preserving have been renovated and modernized, key stakeholders for site development have been brought together, new investors have been acquired, and stronger networking between business and science has been initiated.
