World Tour in the Heart of Germany

It's travel time. Let’s go to France, Italy, Norway, Malaysia or Peru. Sounds like a full program and far away? It doesn’t have to be – Thuringia, an intercultural land and an inspiring tourist destination, combining nearby travel destinations that have a deceptive similarity to worldwide tourist hotspots.

Anyone looking from above the Saale at Europe's largest contiguous reservoir area might think they are in Norway: Like a Scandinavian fjord landscape, the wide expanses of water framed by deep forests in southeastern Thuringia enchant every nature lover. The Dornburg castles amidst vineyards also appear picturesque – here, where the famous poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe repeatedly enjoyed the ambiance, visitors feel transported to France. And strolling through Erfurt's old town with its small alleys and bustling squares, even passing by the Krämerbrücke, which recalls the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, one breathes in Italian flair. Furthermore, the Drachenschlucht in Eisenach evokes Peru, the treetop path in the Hainich National Park evokes Malaysia – example after example inviting a very special “world tour“ in the heart of Germany.
