World market leader from Thuringia: Funkwerk AG

Anyone traveling through European train stations and using rail services benefits from this technology: Funkwerk AG in Kölleda, northern Thuringia, develops communication and information systems for rail transport that everyone knows. These include the display boards on the platforms, the public address systems for announcements, as well as the train radio. Funkwerk AG also provides communication, information, and security systems for other areas of infrastructure, including highways and waterways.

In the D-A-CH region alone, more than 80 percent of trains equipped with the digital standard GSM-R maintain contact with their control centers via the company's train radio devices Contact. This is an example of the high market shares that Funkwerk AG holds in important segments. Funkwerk has been producing electronic devices in Kölleda for over 70 years.
