World market leader from Thuringia: Funkwerk AG

Anyone traveling at European train stations and using rail services benefits from this technology: Funkwerk AG, based in Kölleda, northern Thuringia, develops communication and information systems for rail transport that are familiar to everyone. These include the display boards at the platforms, the public address systems for announcements, and the train radio system. Funkwerk AG also provides communication, information, and safety systems for other areas of infrastructure, including highways and waterways.

In the DACH region alone, more than 80 percent of trains equipped with the GSM-R digital standard communicate with their control centers via train radios from the company Contact . This exemplifies the high market share that Funkwerk AG holds in key segments. For over 70 years, Funkwerk has been manufacturing electronic devices in Kölleda. Its current business success is thus built on a long tradition, during which the company has consistently thought and worked with a future-oriented approach.
