Strong success for Thuringian tourism: Two projects from the Free State were nominated for the Top 10 of the German Tourism Award 2026. From a total of 57 submitted projects, an expert jury selected the ten most innovative and convincing contributions.
Among the nominees is the YouTube series "The Creators“ by Thüringer Tourismus GmbH. The innovative destination marketing format relies on authentic storytelling and creative challenges at tourist locations in Thuringia, thereby reaching new target groups.
Also awarded was the Naturcamp Lenkgrund in Ilmenau with its concept for digital nature tourism in rural areas. The project combines nature-oriented vacation experiences with modern digital services and serves as an exemplary model for future-oriented tourism offerings in Thuringia.
The ten nominated projects will present themselves to the expert jury at the beginning of September. The announcement of the five finalists will take place in October, and the award ceremony will be held on November 19, 2026, as part of the German Tourism Day in Leipzig.
