Thuringian delegation trips strengthen international economic relations

In 2025, Thuringian companies consistently continued their internationalization strategy – with two high-profile delegation trips to dynamic growth markets: China and Vietnam.

Led by Minister of Economic Affairs Colette Boos-John, around 40 participants from business, research, and chambers traveled to Beijing, Ningde, Shanghai, and Changzhou in October. The aim was to deepen economic relations, position Thuringia as an innovation hub, and explore new sales and cooperation opportunities – particularly in optics, sensor technology, mechanical engineering, and energy. Highlights included visits to CATL in Ningde and Baolong Automotive in Shanghai, as well as agreements on collaboration with innovation, technology, and training centers.

In November, a likewise 40-member delegation led by Agriculture State Secretary Marcus Malsch visited Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) in Vietnam. The focus was on business contacts in agriculture and the food industry, mechanical and plant engineering, as well as the recruitment of skilled workers for industry and the social economy. A Career Day at the German House in HCMC and the presence at the VIETFOOD food fair provided platforms for new cooperations and the recruitment of trainees and nursing staff.
