ERFURT_ Thuringia is acting at the top of the world – with great medium-sized companies that have achieved market leadership or technology leadership through innovative products and services as well as leading technologies. The Free State will play these trump cards with its new marketing campaign “Hidden Champions – Thuringian World Market and Technology Leaders”, which LEG is now launching. In a first step, LEG has identified almost 90 companies that deliver top performance and are at the forefront of the market – all of them, as well as representatives of other companies and associations, are invited to the campaign's kick-off event, the “1st Thuringian ChampionsMEET”, which will take place on March 3, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the COMCENTER Brühl in Erfurt.
"Thuringia is characterized by its diverse and at the same time high-performing medium-sized companies," says Economics Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee, who will open the event on Friday. "We want to put this concentrated innovative power and market strength of the Thuringian economy clearly on display with the new image campaign." As part of the campaign, LEG will present the top companies to a broad audience via the new website www.hidden-champions-thuringia.de and through social media activities. "We want to show what competencies and potential the Free State has to offer," says LEG Managing Director Andreas Krey. "The campaign serves location marketing, but should also give companies in the Free State inspiration to become world market and technology leaders in their own sector."
The kick-off event connects Thuringia's "Hidden Champions“ with politics, business, and young talents, and uses best-practice examples to show how to make it to the very top. The keynote speech will be given by Prof. Hermann Simon, a world-renowned management thinker and expert in corporate strategy and –marketing, who coined the term "Hidden Champions“. He will speak on the topic "Hidden Champions – Success strategies for mid-sized companies in an uncertain global environment“. The research results and the campaign's goals will be presented by Dr. Arnulf Wulff, authorized officer and department head at LEG Thüringen; the department team "Invest in Thüringen“ implemented the campaign. Thuringian entrepreneurs who are part of the campaign also make valuable contributions: Dr. Stefan Traeger from Jenoptik AG presents the success story of his company, and in the subsequent panel discussion, Bettina Limpert, CEO of Active Fiber Systems GmbH, Dr. Reinhard Böber, Managing Director of Glatt Ingenieurtechnik GmbH, Stephan A. Grund, CEO of OKM German Detectors, and Mark Scholze, Managing Director of PETKUS Technologie GmbH, will speak.
As part of the event, a certification of the current Thuringian world market and technology leaders will also take place as a special distinction for the companies – further companies can be added in the coming months and years. The LEG identifies new Hidden Championsat regular intervals, and applications are possible at any time.
