Thuringia is further expanding its position as an excellent research location: Jena University Hospital is taking on a central role in the German Center for Mental Health and is coordinating a central German research cluster into which the federal and state governments will invest around 130 million euros by 2030.
The focus is on innovative approaches to the prevention, early detection, and treatment of mental illnesses such as depression. Researchers are investigating, among other things, biological causes, individual risk factors, and modern therapeutic methods such as transcranial magnetic stimulation. The goal is to better understand mental illnesses and treat them more effectively, ideally even preventing their onset.

The funding underscores Thuringia's high scientific competence and the international appeal of Jena as a research location. Through the close collaboration of universities, clinics, and research institutes, Thuringia makes an important contribution to the development of forward-looking solutions for one of the greatest health challenges of our time.
