Depending on the project, up to 100% of the financing comes from federal funds. Funding is provided, among other things, for the construction and renovation of cycle paths, bridges, parking spaces, as well as measures to improve everyday cycling as part of the Climate Protection Programme 2030. Minister Steffen Schütz (BSW) wants to accelerate approvals and drive forward the expansion. Cycle superhighways play no role in Thuringia – according to the ministry, the conditions for the required utilization of 2,000 cyclists per day are lacking.
