Thuringia and Vietnam expand cooperation

A multitude of Contacte, the signing of ten cooperation agreements and contracts, as well as the expansion of collaboration in business, science, and skilled labor management – this is the successful outcome of the seven-day trip of a Thuringian delegation to Vietnam in early November. At the invitation of Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, a 75-member delegation led by Minister-President Bodo Ramelow visited the Southeast Asian country, which is characterized by economic dynamism.

A broad spectrum of topics ranging from business and science to skilled worker recruitment shaped the agenda of the trip, which was attended by the Minister President as well as Labor Minister Heike Werner and State Secretary for Economic Affairs Carsten Feller. The metropolises of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City were visited, as were – for the first time – the city of Danang in central Vietnam and the province of Phu Tho in the north. With the economic development agency of Phu Tho, LEG, which organized the trip, concluded a cooperation agreement. In addition, during the trip, young Vietnamese trainees received their participation certificate and thus the assurance of training contracts in Thuringia starting this year. The delegation explored further options for cooperation in the area of skilled workers with Vietnamese partners; companies and universities developed new networks and expanded existing Contacte.
