Erfurt_ Digital applications are increasingly enriching medicine – examples include the recently introduced electronic patient record (ePA) or the broad field of telemedicine, where the doctor is no longer visited in person but consulted via video conference. Europe's largest event for this health IT sector will take place from tomorrow, Tuesday, April 8, to Thursday, April 10, in Berlin – the DMEA trade fair will then provide a platform for presentations and exchange among decision-makers from all areas of healthcare for three days. Thuringia is participating; the Free State is presenting its strengths as part of a joint booth in Hall 3.2, Booth E-108. Four companies and research institutions from the Free State are showcasing their products and services. A highlight and the best opportunity for Contacte and lively exchange is the "Thüringen-Date“ on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
“Thuringia has traditionally been strong in this economic and technology sector, and DMEA has now become a fixed part of our trade fair calendar,” says LEG Managing Director Sabine Wosche ahead of the fair. She is on site in Berlin and will open the “Thuringia Date.” “This year we are at DMEA for the fourth time, which is an excellent platform to showcase our strengths and at the same time engage in lively exchange with companies and research institutes from other regions.”
LEG organizes the joint booth on behalf of the Thuringian Ministry of Economic Affairs. There are many forward-looking topics with which the Thuringian exhibitors can score points. For example, software solutions for outpatient medical practices and emergency services are presented, which support customers in the digitalization of their processes as well as in the areas of data collection, contract management and quality assurance. New methods for anonymizing health data through digital avatars are also presented – using state-of-the-art technology, the needs of optimal healthcare including the necessary flow of information on the one hand and comprehensive data protection for patients on the other are brought into harmony.
Projects and solutions like this thrive on the collaboration of various Thuringian companies and research institutes. Accordingly, many activities are bundled by the LEG team "Thüringer ClusterManagement" (ThCM), which also fulfills the tasks of the office of the Thuringian Innovation Strategy (RIS). It was a workshop series by the ThCM titled "Digital Health" that, starting in 2016, brought together many Thuringian stakeholders and also initiated the plan to present a Thuringian joint stand at DMEA. The choice fell on DMEA because it is Europe's central meeting point for Digital Health, the digital health economy – here, doctors, hospital and nursing managers, as well as experts from politics, science, and research come together. Thuringia's first three participations at the trade fair were successful. This year, more than 800 exhibitors and more than 300 speakers will be represented at DMEA, demonstrating in a practical way how digital transformation makes highly complex healthcare systems patient-oriented, economical, and future-proof. The (digital) healthcare industry is an important part of the Thuringian economy and has gained even more significance in recent years. In 2023, the gross value added in the core area of the healthcare industry amounted to around 7.4 billion euros. Overall, gross value added recorded growth of 48.3 percent between 2014 and 2023.
