The commissioning of the CATL battery factory at Erfurter Kreuz can officially begin

Today, the second partial permit for commissioning the battery factory in the "Erfurter Kreuz" industrial park in Amt Wachsenburg was presented, as part of the application under the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG). This allows the Chinese battery manufacturer CATL to ramp up production to a partial capacity of 8 GWh per year in the coming months.

The company is investing approximately €1.8 billion in Thuringia to build Europe's largest cell manufacturing facility and Germany's first battery factory. This project is expected to create around 2,000 jobs.
