Thüringer Born Senf & Feinkost GmbH is expanding its production. To this end, the company will build a new company complex in the industrial area "Erfurter Kreuz" starting in mid-2015, investing several million euros. This was announced today in Erfurt by Thuringia's Economics Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee and Born Managing Director Hans-Jürgen Dahlmann. The new buildings will be used for production, administration, and quality assurance in the future, alongside the existing production site in Bad Langensalza. In addition, a goods warehouse, a raw materials warehouse, and a picking warehouse will be created. Born already acquired a 5.6-hectare plot of land at the end of October 2014 from the Landesentwicklungsgesellschaft Thüringen mbH (LEG), which owns the areas at "Erfurter Kreuz". "The investment by Born Senf is a good economic start to the year 2015," said Minister Tiefensee. With Born Senf, a true Thuringian traditional company is planning its further growth in and from Thuringia. "The Free State offers good framework conditions for investments and settlements. The new state government is committed to continuously improving these conditions." The Ministry of Economics will support the project within the scope of available possibilities. Born Managing Director Hans-Jürgen Dahlmann stated: "Over generations, Thuringian consumers in particular have contributed to building Born into a remarkable traditional brand. The LEG will continue to drive the development of the area to improve conditions for new settlements and existing companies." The construction project will be carried out by the company Goldbeck for Born Senf & Feinkost GmbH, which has already implemented numerous settlement projects in Thuringia. The project will be carried out in two to three construction phases. After completion of the project, 50-70 employees are initially expected to find work at "Erfurter Kreuz". The current production volume of over ten thousand tons of mustard and ketchup is to be significantly expanded as a result. Background: The Born brand has been a firm part of Thuringian food culture for almost two centuries. Mustard, tomato ketchup, and barbecue sauces are produced almost exclusively in Thuringia. The cultivation of the yellow mustard seed, which is important for mustard, also takes place on over 250 hectares of Thuringian fields. The "Erfurter Kreuz" industrial park is one of the most successful commercial areas in Thuringia. LEG has been developing the area on behalf of the state since 2005 in several construction phases. In the past ten years, ten companies with around 3,000 jobs have settled here, including companies such as N3 Engine Overhaul Services, Daimler, IHI Charging Systems International, Gonvauto, and Schuite & Schuite.
