To this end, the company will begin construction of a new company complex in the "Erfurter Kreuz" industrial park in mid-2015, investing several million euros. The new buildings, located next to the existing production site in Bad Langensalza, will house production, administration, and quality assurance facilities. In addition, a warehouse, a raw materials warehouse, and an order picking area will be built. Born acquired a 5.6-hectare plot of land at the end of October 2014 from the State Development Corporation of Thuringia (LEG), the owner of the land at "Erfurter Kreuz." "Born Mustard's investment is a good economic start to 2015," said Minister Tiefensee. With Born Mustard, a true Thuringian company steeped in tradition is planning its further growth in and from Thuringia. LEG will continue to develop the site to improve conditions for new businesses and existing companies.” The construction project for Born Mustard & Delicatessen GmbH will be carried out by Goldbeck, a company that has already completed numerous development projects in Thuringia. The project will be carried out in two to three phases. Upon completion, the “Erfurter Kreuz” site is expected to provide employment for 50-70 people. The current production volume of over ten thousand tons of mustard and ketchup is to be significantly increased as a result. Mustard, tomato ketchup, and barbecue sauces are produced almost exclusively in Thuringia. The cultivation of yellow mustard seeds, essential for mustard production, also takes place on over 250 hectares of Thuringian fields. The "Erfurter Kreuz" industrial park is one of the most successful commercial areas in Thuringia. LEG has been developing the area on behalf of the state since 2005 in several construction phases. In the past ten years, ten companies with around 3,000 jobs have established themselves here, including firms such as N3 Engine Overhaul Services, Daimler, IHI Charging Systems International, Gonvauto, and Schuite & Schuite.
