For about a year now, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd (CATL), the world market leader in battery manufacturing, has been producing in Arnstadt, Thuringia. Together with the nearby Battery Innovation and Technology Center (BITC), a branch of the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems (IKTS), the company is developing models for calculating battery lifespan. The basis of this work is the first battery lifespan development model in Germany, located at the site, and the cooperation between CATL and BITC/IKTS is also the first of its kind in Germany. The existing collaboration between CATL and IKTS, called "BattLife," is now being expanded with the new "BattForce" project: The test center operated by the partners is being enlarged and equipped with a new technology. The benefits are significant, as much depends on the increased lifespan of the batteries; it is a crucial criterion for optimizing production, maintenance, and resource utilization processeshw)
Thanks to Thuringian technology: Long live the battery!
