The city of Pößneck recently hosted a promising on-site meeting of the Vacancy Management Working Group, attended by 19 participants from various municipalities, ministries, and institutions. The focus was on the city's pilot project for rent subsidies as well as the effective approach to the interim acquisition of vacant properties and their marketing.
A special highlight of the appointment was the visit to the "House of Gifts". The rent for the new shop owners was subsidized as part of experimental urban development funding, which attracted great interest. The stakeholders took the opportunity to get a detailed picture of the approach and framework conditions of this innovative project.
Another focus of the workshop was also Pößneck's effective approach to the interim acquisition of vacant properties and their subsequent marketing. To this end, working group member and head of the building department of the city of Pößneck, Frank Bachmann, led the working group to several objects currently under renovation. In particular, municipal actors from the partner municipalities of the action alliance showed great interest in a possible transfer of these successful strategies. The goal of the on-site appointment was to consider the city of Pößneck's approach as a best practice example and to compile a transferable guide for their own application. In the second part of the working group meeting, participants developed a guide in three groups based on the presentation and with the assistance of Mr. Bachmann.
The lively exchange between the participants from the municipalities, but also from the various areas such as the Association of Municipalities and Cities or the IHK, underscores the importance of such on-site appointments for knowledge transfer and the joint development of forward-looking solutions for vacancy issues in our cities.
We thank the city of Pößneck for their hospitality and inspiring insights into their successful projects. The on-site appointment was a complete success, and we look forward to carrying the insights gained through the action alliance into the municipalities and further developing them.
