The town of Pößneck recently hosted a promising on-site meeting of the working group on vacant properties, attended by 19 participants from various municipalities, ministries, and institutions. The focus was on the town's pilot project for rent subsidies and effective procedures for the interim acquisition and marketing of vacant properties.

A particular highlight of the meeting was the visit to the "House of Gifts." The rent for the new shop owners was subsidized as part of an experimental urban development program, which generated considerable interest. The participants took the opportunity to gain a detailed understanding of the methodology and framework of this innovative project.

Another focus of the workshop was Pößneck's effective approach to the interim acquisition of vacant properties and their subsequent marketing. To this end, working group member and head of the Pößneck building authority, Frank Bachmann, led the group to several properties currently undergoing renovation. Municipal stakeholders from the partner municipalities of the action alliance showed particular interest in potentially transferring these successful strategies. The aim of the site visit was to examine Pößneck's approach as a best practice example and to compile a transferable guideline for their own application. In the second part of the working group meeting, the participants, divided into three groups, developed the guideline based on the presented guidelines and with the assistance of Mr. Bachmann.

The lively exchange between participants from the municipalities, but also from various sectors such as the Association of Municipalities and Cities or the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, underlines the importance of such on-site meetings for knowledge transfer and the joint development of forward-looking solutions to vacancy problems in our cities.

We thank the city of Pößneck for their hospitality and inspiring insights into their successful projects. The on-site meeting was a complete success, and we look forward to sharing the knowledge gained with the local communities and further developing it through the action alliance.
