"MINT-Geflüster“ in Erfurt: Knowledge transfer and many networking opportunities for women in the technical and scientific fields

Seventh edition of the network evening takes place on June 11 in Erfurt / Workshop, panel discussion and get-together provide impulses and enable Contacte

This year again, the Thuringian network evening "MINT-Geflüster" offers a wealth of interesting information and lively exchange for women in the technical and scientific fields. The event will take place on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the COMCENTER Brühl (Erfurt). The word "MINT" is derived from the fields of study and careers in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology. Since women are still underrepresented in these disciplines, the network evening is specifically aimed at female guests. Invited are both women who are pursuing a corresponding degree or professional career, as well as those who are already working in these fields and wish to actively expand their Careerchancen. As in previous years, MINT-Geflüster is organized by the Thuringian Coordination Office for Natural Sciences and Technology based at the TU Ilmenau (ThüKo NWT) and the LEG Thüringen, at whose company headquarters the COMCENTER Brühl is located.

Exchange helps break down barriers and seize opportunities: In line with this guiding principle, the networking evening offers all participants a wide range of opportunities to network with like-minded people from science and technology. The offer is aimed at female students, graduates, doctoral candidates, re-entrants, employees and female managers at Thuringian universities or in the regional economy. MINT professions offer everyone who takes them up excellent opportunities for self-fulfillment and career advancement, and at the same time, in times of skilled labor shortages, we cannot afford to do without the great potential of women in this area.

At the networking evening, women provide insights into their life and Career career paths, during a panel discussion experts talk about STEM career fields and career paths, and a get-together opens up opportunities to engage in conversation. The panel discussion features Tanja Zimmermann, Director Engineering at N3 Engine Overhaul Services GmbH & Co. KG, Prof. Dr. Liz Ribe, Professor of Mathematics at Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena, and Manuela Göbelt, MEMS Program Manager at X-Fab. Before the actual event starts at 6:00 PM, there is a workshop in the afternoon on the topic of “Communicative Networking”. Here, participants learn valuable information about how to start conversations and assert topics and concerns. The focus is on quick-wittedness, paying attention to likability factors, and recognizing the patterns of the counterpart.

Background:

LEG has always been deeply committed to the topics of equal opportunity and diversity. Since 2007, it has been a holder of the "TOTAL E-QUALITY“ award, which recognizes commitment in these areas. After being awarded five times, it recently achieved permanent status in the Thuringia Sustainability Agreement (NAT), particularly for its social commitment with equitable human resources management. In addition, the "Thuringian Agency For Skilled Worker Recruitment“ (ThAFF), based at LEG, conducts marketing for Thuringia as a business location, supports Thuringians in their return to the local labor market, and assists companies in meeting their need for skilled workers. The Thuringia Coordination Office for NWT is a working unit of the Thuringian universities; it motivates female students to take up a STEM degree program in Thuringia and supports female students during their studies.
