Thuringia's foreign trade has recovered from the pandemic-induced slump of 2020: With export volumes of almost €17 billion and imports of nearly €13.7 billion, new record highs were even achieved. This was announced by Economics Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee at the 14th Thuringian Foreign Trade Day, which took place at the end of June in Oberhof, southern Thuringia. The event informed around 140 business leaders about "New Paths in International Business" and encouraged mutual exchange. Tiefensee further stated that in the future, Thuringian foreign trade policy will focus not only on new sales markets but also on the import of intermediate goods and materials for the Thuringian economy. Due to current supply chain problems, Thuringian companies are pressing for an expansion and stabilization of international supplier relationships. Against this backdrop, the state will offer trips to initiate supply cooperations; the first of these will take place in November to Italy. (hw)
