Record year for Thuringia's foreign trade

Recovered from the pandemic-related slump in 2020, Thuringia's foreign trade is showing strength: with almost 17 billion euros in exports and just under 13.7 billion euros in imports, new record levels were even achieved. This was announced by Economics Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee on the occasion of the 14th Thuringian Foreign Trade Day, which took place in late June in Oberhof in southern Thuringia, informed around 140 entrepreneurs about "New Paths in International Business“ and encouraged mutual exchange. In the future, according to Tiefensee, the focus of Thuringia's foreign trade policy should not only be on new sales markets, but also on the import of preliminary products and materials for the Thuringian economy. Due to the current supply chain problems, Thuringian companies are pushing for the expansion and stabilization of international supplier relationships. Against this backdrop, the state will in future offer trips to initiate supply cooperations; the first will lead to Italy in November. (hw)
