ERFURT_The West Thuringian company PWB encoders GmbH has now been honored as the newest member of the Thuringian Hidden Champions campaign. With the Hidden Champions (hidden winners) campaign in Thuringia, the Free State and its state development company (LEG Thüringen) honor world market and technology leaders based here. PWB can now also call itself such a “Champion“. The certificate of appointment was handed over by Thuringia's State Secretary for Economic Affairs Mario Suckert, LEG department head Herbert Stütz and LEG project manager Maiko Klosch as part of the ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony for the company's new innovation center, which took place today, April 29, at the company's headquarters in Eisenach.
According to its own information, the company is a leading manufacturer of precision plastic components such as plastic contact discs and rotary encoders. Rotary encoders are sensors that work with optical and magnetic scanning, thus offering solutions for precise positioning and motion control in industrial applications. For example, industrial customers of PWB can determine lengths, distance movements, as well as the speed, position, and angle of their machines in their factory. According to PWB, their rotary encoders are used, for example, in automation, robotics, and medical technology. PWB encoders GmbH was founded in 2009; the company currently employs 45 people and generates annual sales of around 8 million euros.
PWB encoders GmbH joins a group of nearly 100 outstanding companies that together employ more than 14,000 people and generate around 8 billion euros in revenue. Among them are internationally renowned corporations such as Carl Zeiss and Jenoptik, as well as Hidden Champions like Häcker Automation and Askion.
