The Klassik Stiftung Weimar can continue its successful work in the coming years on a secure financial basis: the Federal Government, the Free State of Thuringia, and the City of Weimar have secured the foundation's funding until 2031. In the future, around 32 million euros will be available annually for the preservation and further development of the significant collections, museums, archives, and UNESCO World Heritage sites. This gives one of Germany's most important cultural locations long-term planning security.
A visible highlight of this development is already on the horizon: From October 2 to 4, 2026, the Weimar City Castle will celebrate its reopening after extensive renovation. With the restored east wing, a new permanent exhibition on Weimar Classicism, and a modern visitor center, Weimar regains a central cultural and meeting place.
