LEG is thus taking over the development of the approximately 80-hectare area on the northern outskirts, within commuting distance of the Saxon metropolis of Leipzig. This is a key project for the economic future of the region.
"Especially in challenging times, we must actively shape growth," says Krey. Neumann adds: "The project creates prospects – for jobs, investments, and higher tax revenues." The development costs amount to approx. 50 million euros, largely financed from federal funds. The goal is to offer companies space for settlements and expansion – a strong signal for Altenburg and the surrounding area.
