New home with modern laboratories and state-of-the-art drawing tower

At the end of an unusual move, the company moved into its own innovative headquarters: The sensor specialist FBGS from Jena recently inaugurated its new company location. Previously, the company worked in rented spaces, now it has a modern headquarters on 2,000 square meters of space.

The new location offers sufficient space to develop and manufacture fiber-optic sensors and components “made in Jena” in large quantities. The investment also involved the establishment of state-of-the-art equipment – the new site now houses physical and chemical laboratories, offices and meeting rooms, as well as its own fiber drawing tower, which is to be followed by two more in the future. Around 20 employees now work here under the best working conditions; the company's products are widely used, for example, in the fields of industry, energy, construction, or medical technology. The move itself posed major challenges: sensitive laser and adjustment systems had to be packed and unpacked, and production lines in the cleanroom at the old and new locations had to be kept running or rebuilt. All of this was done while maintaining ongoing deliveries to customers worldwide. With the move to the new location, the company, which was founded in 2005 as a spin-off from the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technologies (IPHT), can scale up production and continue to grow. (hw)
