New courses support companies and skilled workers in balancing work and care

Thuringian Agency For Skilled Worker Recruitment (ThAFF) offers training to become a "Company Care Navigator" / Digital course offering can be used flexibly

ERFURT_ For companies and their employees, it is a major challenge: In the course of demographic development, the number of relatives requiring care is growing, and intelligent solutions are needed in companies to achieve a better work-life balance with care responsibilities. Two new courses for training as "Company Care Guides" offer corresponding support, which the Thuringian Agency For Skilled Worker Recruitment (ThAFF) is offering from August 21 to September 15 and from October 16 to November 10. The courses, part of the project "Company Care Guides Thuringia DIGITAL", are free of charge and can be conveniently attended from a desk or home office during the course period.

A major advantage of the course offering is its flexibility: participants have four weeks of access to the seven modules, allowing them to easily integrate the course into their daily work routine. "Our courses are aimed at anyone who wants to acquire basic knowledge on the topic of care in a professional context," explains Sabine Wosche, Managing Director of LEG, where ThAFF is based. "Support in reconciling work and care helps employees in their demanding task of being there for the company and their relatives, and also makes a significant contribution to companies in overcoming the shortage of skilled workers."

Participants receive important information through the seven-module video offer to advise and support their colleagues in care situations. The company care guides provide valuable initial consultation and are available for questions on the topic of "Work and Care". In addition, they provide valuable tips on suitable support and further information options. So far, a total of 580 committed people in Thuringia have successfully participated in the course "Company Care Guides Thuringia DIGITAL".

Background:

Balancing work and family care is a challenge for many employees in Germany. According to current statistics, more than 80 percent of people in need of care in Germany are cared for at home, mostly by relatives who also have a stressful job. Many of those affected do not dare to talk to their employers about their situation and seek support in the often opaque "care jungle".
To improve the situation of caring relatives and strengthen the benefits of statutory long-term care insurance, the Care Support and Relief Act (PUEG) was introduced. From 2024, care allowance, benefits in kind, and the number of days per calendar year for which relatives can receive care support allowance are to be increased. This is intended to enable a person in need of care to be better looked after by their own family.
