ERFURT_ An industry is becoming more visible and transparent: At the Medica medical technology trade fair, which begins today (November 15 to 18 in Düsseldorf), LEG and the industry association medways e. V. launched the new company portal Life Sciences Thüringen – LiST. The web-based platform clearly presents around 350 Thuringian players from the diverse economic and technology sector of Life Sciences – including companies, research institutions, clinics, networks, and associations. Life Sciences (German: „Lebenswissenschaften“) encompass such different fields as medical technology, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology. Via 3 main access points (selection by products, industries, and value creation), 17 categories, and 79 subcategories, interested parties can in the future easily and quickly get an overview and specifically find their contacts. The website is available from November 15 at www.lifesciences-thueringen.de
"The data basis for the new platform is the Company and Technology Database (UTD) of our house“", explains LEG managing director Andreas Krey in the context of the launch. "We draw on proven and constantly updated tools that we maintain and actively use as part of our diverse tasks in economic development and technology and cluster management. With LiST we provide a structured market overview; a heterogeneous, multi‑layered and highly dynamic economic and technology sector becomes more tangible and transparent .“ The LEG has structured and designed the portal together with medways e. V. "LiST offers companies and industry actors the opportunity to gain more visibility for their competencies and products“ says Dr. Eike Dazert, managing director of medways e V. "It should be continuously expanded and can support networking along the value chain. Through the intuitive accesses and an active promotion of the portal at Trade Fairs and events we also want to address interested partners outside Thuringia and actively support the initiation of new collaborations.“
The medways e. V. is the Thuringian industry association for medical technology and biotechnology; through its cluster activities, it covers large parts of the life sciences sector. The partner for the concrete technical implementation was dreistromland AG with its branch in Jena. The platform offers special search functions, selection options, and links for researching potential suppliers, customers, and cooperation partners; a linked map view allows for a clear spatial orientation. For users, LiST offers location marketing for the industry, easier identification of suppliers and service providers, as well as access to research and development. The listed companies and institutes can present contact persons, visiting addresses, competencies, product and service profiles, as well as certificates. "We are not aware of any other portal nationwide with this wealth of information on the life sciences industry," says Andreas Krey in conclusion. "In the future, medways e. V. and we will ensure the continuous further development and adaptation of the portal in order to make a lasting contribution to the future viability and competitiveness of the Thuringian industry."

medways e.V. – the industry association for medical technology / biotechnology – is organizing the Thuringian joint stand at Medica for the thirteenth time in 2021.
For over 20 years, medways has been leveraging the power of its network, which now has 90 members, to bring innovative ideas in medical technology and biotechnology from Thuringia “to the patient“. The 5 employees of the office in Jena support companies – from start-ups to established corporations – in idea generation, project application and organization; and in the standards-compliant CE approval of medical devices and in-vitro diagnostics. Idea generators, supporters, promoters, and distributors are brought together at one table, always with the goal of further advancing medical technology and biotechnology in Thuringia and beyond, in order to provide doctors and clinics with the highest medical technology standards for the best possible patient care in the future.
