Monthly Thuringian export volume only slightly exceeds import volume

Despite significant supply bottlenecks in recent months, Thuringia's foreign trade volume continued its growth trend. Both exports and imports increased further in May. Contrary to the nationwide trend, however, a temporary trade deficit was avoided. According to preliminary figures from the Federal Statistical Office, the Free State achieved an export surplus of approximately €125 million in May. Nevertheless, a trend toward a convergence of export and import values ​​is emerging. This is evidently partly due to rising import prices.
