Despite significant supply bottlenecks in recent months, Thuringia's foreign trade volume continued its growth trend. Both exports and imports increased further in May. Contrary to the nationwide trend, however, a temporary trade deficit was avoided. According to preliminary figures from the Federal Statistical Office, the Free State achieved an export surplus of approximately €125 million in May. Nevertheless, a trend toward a convergence of export and import values is emerging. This is evidently partly due to rising import prices.
Monthly Thuringian export volume only slightly exceeds import volume
