“LEG has provided Mathys with intensive support in recent years, assisting with site selection and evaluation, as well as with advice on funding opportunities,” explains LEG Managing Director Andreas Krey. “We are delighted about the expansion at the Stadtroda site, as this investment demonstrates that Thuringia is an attractive location for companies with growth potential.” During its discussions, LEG was able to highlight numerous advantages of the location in East Thuringia. “The industrial park is conveniently located at the intersection of the A4 and A9 motorways – with correspondingly quick connections to Berlin and Munich, Frankfurt and Dresden,” says Dr. Arnulf Wulff, LEG Authorized Representative and Department Head. “Furthermore, Mathys benefits from the expertise in ceramic manufacturing and precision machining that is abundant in the Jena, Hermsdorf, and Gera region.” According to its own figures, the Swiss parent company, Mathys AG Bettlach, employs around 540 people worldwide and generated sales of approximately CHF 125 million in 2020. Since mid-2021, Mathys AG has been part of the publicly traded US company EnovisTMProduction in Thuringia focuses on shoulder, hip, and knee prostheses. At the new 4.5-hectare site in Stadtroda, a new 5,000 m² hall for metal fabrication and a 2,900 m² building for ceramic production are being constructed, complemented by a modern office building.
