The first stop on the trip will be a delegation tour to the East Coast of the USA from May 18th to 24th/25th, 2025. Led by Thuringia's Minister-President Mario Voigt and Minister of Economic Affairs Colette Boos-John, the group will visit Washington, D.C., New York, and Boston. Under the motto "Inspiration. Connection. Transformation.", the itinerary includes visits to leading global companies and elite universities, as well as valuable Contact with the consulate, local stakeholders, and the Chamber of Commerce. In Washington, D.C., a political and economic briefing will be held. Company visits to Amazon, Boeing, Google, and Merck have also been requested. New York is the second stop on the trip. Highlights there include a visit to the United Nations and the "Asparagus Dinner," the Chamber of Commerce's central annual reception and networking event. The tour then continues to Boston, where participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with Thuringian entrepreneurs based there, as well as with external technology companies that have a branch in Thuringia. The itinerary also includes visits to the headquarters of major companies in Boston, such as AI pioneer Data Robots. Harvard University and MIT are also on the agenda. This trip is primarily aimed at companies in the Smart Manufacturing & Robotics, Life Sciences & Biotechnology, and AI & Digital Technology/e-Commerce sectors.
The delegation trip to China, planned for October 2025, is entirely open to all sectors. Beijing and Shanghai have already been confirmed as destinations, and in addition to visits to the Chamber of Commerce and various top-tier universities, there will be numerous opportunities for visits and discussions at renowned companies, including Alibaba, Huawei, and Jenoptik Shanghai. Trips to centers in the Shanghai region, such as the German SME Center in Taicang, home to approximately 500 German SMEs, and the Start-up Factory in Kunshan, are also planned. The visit will be complemented by political discussions and networking events; a highlight will be a "Thuringia Evening" in Beijing, to which representatives from various sectors of Chinese industry will be invited, and Thuringia will be presented as an industrial location of the future.
