The kickoff is a delegation trip to the East Coast of the USA from May 18 to 24/25, 2025. Led by Thuringia's Minister President Mario Voigt and Economics Minister Colette Boos-John, the trip goes to Washington D.C., New York, and Boston. Under the motto “Inspiration. Connection. Transformation.“ visits to globally operating top companies and elite universities are planned, along with exquisite Contacte with the consulate, local multipliers, and the foreign trade chamber. In Washington D.C., a political and an economic briefing will take place. Additionally, company visits to Amazon, Boeing, Google, and Merck have been requested. New York is the second stop of the trip. A real highlight here is a visit to the United Nations and the “Asparagus Dinner“, the central annual reception and networking event of the foreign trade chamber. This is followed by the trip to Boston, where, among other things, an exchange with Thuringian entrepreneurs based there and also with external technology corporations that have a branch in Thuringia can take place. In addition, visits to the headquarters of major companies in Boston are on the agenda, for example, AI pioneer Data Robots. Harvard University and MIT are also on the visit program. The trip's offering is aimed primarily at companies in the sectors of Smart Manufacturing & Robotics, Life Sciences and Biotechnology, as well as AI & Digital Technology / e-Commerce.
The delegation trip to China, planned for October 2025, is completely open to all industries. Beijing and Shanghai have already been confirmed as destinations, and in addition to visits to the Chamber of Foreign Trade and various prestigious universities, there are also numerous opportunities for visits and discussions at renowned companies, including Alibaba, Huawei, and Jenoptik Shanghai. There are also trips to centers in the Shanghai region, such as the German Mittelstand Center in Taicang, where around 500 German SMEs are represented, or the Start-up Factory in Kunshan. The visit is accompanied by political talks and networking events; a highlight is a “Thuringia Evening” in Beijing – invited to this are representatives from various sectors of Chinese industry, to whom Thuringia will be presented as an industrial location of the future.
