ERFURT_ Discover exciting employers and great jobs – this is what professionals can do at the Thuringian Job and Career Fair “academix meets comeback”. On Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., around 70 employers from various industries across Thuringia will present their offerings at the COMCENTER Brühl (Erfurt). As at the successful premiere last year, the Thuringian Agency for Skilled Worker Recruitment (ThAFF) combines its two successful job fairs “academix Thuringia” and “comeback” and holds them jointly as the “Thuringian Job and Career Fair”. Exhibitors will present themselves in the premises of the COMCENTER Brühl and in the adjacent inner courtyard. Commuters and potential returnees are invited, i.e., Thuringian professionals who are employed but currently do not work in the Free State. The fair is also aimed at young people in schools and universities as well as young professionals who want to start out in regular employment, training, or an internship. At the start of the event from 10 a.m., there will be a tour of the fair with Thuringia's Minister of Labor Heike Werner, ThAFF team leader Alexander Reuß, and Justice State Secretary Meike Herz (TMMJV), who will promote training opportunities in the justice system and prison services at the fair.
„If we want to counter the foreseeable shortage of skilled workers in the coming years, we must seize every opportunity. The two well-known job fairs comeback and academix will continue this year under one roof, bundling offers for a wide range of target groups, including school students, university students, career starters, those wishing to return, and commuters. The Thuringian Job and Career Fair offers a great opportunity to get to know new and innovative companies in Thuringia and to talk to potential employers from the regions. All interested parties are welcome“, said the patron and Thuringian Minister of Labor Heike Werner.
„Last year it became clear: Our concept works, summarising the previous offers. We provide an attractive opportunity at one time and place for applicants and employers to talk directly“, explains Alexander Reuß. „Furthermore, a prerequisite for the future positive economic development of the Free State is that our companies find skilled workers. At the same time, young people want to take their first professional steps in Thuringia, and commuters and potential returnees are happy to be able to work again in their beloved homeland – for employers as well as for skilled workers we create an offer that enables employment on the local labour market .“ This year the weekday on which the fair takes place is new: While it was Thursday in 2023, it is now Saturday – on the weekend the chance is greater that commuters and returnees are on a home visit in Thuringia/Erfurt, especially since the Krämerbrückenfest takes place at the same time, making it easy to combine a visit there with participation in the job fair.
Among the presenting companies are such diverse employers as Carl Zeiss AG, Analytik Jena GmbH & Co. KG, Deutsche Bahn AG, AHORN Hotels & Resorts, PDV GmbH, and TEAG Thüringer Energie AG. In addition to the job offers, visitors can also expect a varied supporting program. For example, interested parties can receive feedback on their personal documents in the application folder check; application photos can be taken free of charge, and in lectures, participants will receive information and tips on the topics of job search, application, and career entry.
Background:
Predecessors of the “Thuringian Job and Careermesse” are the academix and the comeback: The former has been targeting young people from schools, universities, and early career years since its premiere in 2011, while the latter has been inviting commuters and returnees since 2013 to make Contactcontact with local employers, in order to enable them to find employment in their home region.
