The “World University Ranking“ is published once a year by Times Higher Education (THE). It is one of the most internationally recognized rankings in the higher education sector. In the current survey, Friedrich Schiller University (FSU) Jena was able to improve by one place and thus ranks 21st among German universities. In the area of teaching, it is among the TOP 20 in Germany and among the best 12 percent worldwide. In the research quality category, FSU scored 83 points (previously 81.8) and ranked 18th among German universities. Worldwide, the overall placement was maintained in the ranking group 201-250.
"This is an important success for the university, as international university rankings are one of the most significant instruments for attracting students and researchers," said University President Prof. Dr. Andreas Marx.

The ranking methodology comprises 18 indicators that assess, among other things, teaching, research, and internationalization. Internationally, the University of Oxford leads the ranking, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University. (maa)
