It is important for integration into society, but at the same time a major challenge for people coming to us from abroad: access for international workers and skilled professionals to the German or Thuringian labor market. The event "Info Day: Erfurt International – Career Perspectives" on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the COMCENTER Brühl, Mainzerhofstraße 10 in Erfurt offers suggestions and exchange on this topic.
"Professional integration is an indispensable factor for successful participation in social and economic life," says Sabine Wosche, Managing Director of LEG. "With the information day, we provide international workers and skilled professionals with a wealth of suggestions and information for their successful start in the Thuringian labor market." The organizers of the conference are all members of the "Working Group Integration into the Labor Market" of the "Network for Integration of the State Capital Erfurt", which also includes LEG Thüringen (with its work area "Thuringian Agency For Skilled Worker Recruitment – ThAFF"). "We already have a comprehensive range of counseling and support services in Erfurt for refugees and immigrants," says Viktoria Schacher, coordinator of the network. "To better bundle these services, we are now organizing the information day for the third time. Participants can get a good overview here of what options are available to them and how they can best use and expand their strengths. We hope that those interested will find long-term and meaningful employment."
Many refugees and immigrants are faced with a multitude of offers without being able to keep track of them. The information day aims to provide orientation here: counseling and support services are presented in a bundled manner – language course providers introduce themselves, there are targeted offers for career orientation and exploration, training, studies, further education, qualifications, or recognition of qualifications. The counseling focuses on very specific concerns such as questions about the appropriate trade fairsen resume or the evaluation of job advertisements. It is offered in twelve languages, including Polish, Persian/Farsi, Arabic, and Chinese, in addition to German and English. A total of six lectures serve to stimulate and inform; the languages here are German, Spanish, and Ukrainian. Participants also gain valuable information through the accompanying exhibition with information booths.
