Höhn: Solid growth strengthens northern Thuringia

Thuringia's Minister of Economic Affairs, Uwe Höhn, attended the inauguration of a new office building for THIMM SCHERTLER Verpackungssysteme GmbH + Co. KG in Nordhausen today. The company, which employs a total of 264 people at the site, has established a laboratory and additional offices on an area of ​​1,900 square meters. The Thuringian Ministry of Economic Affairs has supported the company with approximately €900,000 over the past twenty years through the joint federal and state program "Improvement of Regional Economic Structures" (GRW). This funding has enabled investments totaling around €5.5 million. "THIMM SCHERTLER clearly demonstrates what can develop from small companies that start with just a few employees," said Höhn. "With its solid growth, it strengthens northern Thuringia." The new two-story office building at the company's site in the "IFA Industriepark Nordhausen" was constructed by the Thuringian State Development Corporation (LEG) and is now leased to THIMM SCHERTLER Verpackungssysteme GmbH + Co. KG. The building combines a development center and laboratory on the ground floor with modern office space on the upper floor for management, purchasing, project management, and quality management. Furthermore, a connecting structure provides direct access to the company's existing offices housing human resources, accounting, and sales. "This expansion investment at the Nordhausen site sends an important signal to the city and the entire North Thuringia region, and once again confirms the excellent cooperation between THIMM SCHERTLER Packaging Systems, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and LEG," said LEG Managing Director Andreas Krey. "Innovative and committed family businesses like THIMM SCHERTLER ensure and expand jobs in our region for the long term." With this extension, the company is addressing the increased demands resulting from its growth. The company, which specializes in packaging systems for the automotive and automotive supplier industries as well as technology sectors, received an award in 2014 at the Czech packaging competition "Obal roku" for its innovative bumper packaging.
