Höhn: Solid growth strengthens Thuringia's north

THIMM SCHERTLER Packaging Systems expands location in Nordhausen / Thuringian Ministry of Economic Affairs supported the company with around 900,000 euros
Thuringia's Minister of Economic Affairs Uwe Höhn today participated in the inauguration of a new office building of the company THIMM SCHERTLER Verpackungssysteme GmbH + Co. KG in Nordhausen. On an area of 1900 square meters, the company, which has a total of 264 jobs at the site, has set up a laboratory and additional offices. Over the past twenty years, the Thuringian Ministry of Economic Affairs has supported the company with around 900,000 euros from funds of the Joint Task "Improvement of the Regional Economic Structure" (GRW). This funding has triggered investments totaling around 5.5 million euros. "THIMM SCHERTLER makes clear what can develop over the years from small companies that start with just a few employees," said Höhn. "With its solid growth, it strengthens Thuringia's north." The new two-story office building at the company's site in the "IFA Industriepark Nordhausen" was built by the Landesentwicklungsgesellschaft Thüringen mbH (LEG) and is now being leased to THIMM SCHERTLER Verpackungssysteme GmbH + Co. KG. The building combines a development center and laboratory on the ground floor with modern office spaces on the upper floor for the areas of management, purchasing, project and quality management. Furthermore, via the connecting structure, there is direct access to the company's existing office spaces for the areas of human resources, accounting, and sales. "The expansion investment at the Nordhausen site is an important signal for the city and for the entire North Thuringia region and once again confirms the good cooperation between THIMM SCHERTLER Verpackungssysteme, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and the LEG," said LEG Managing Director Andreas Krey. "Through innovative and committed family businesses like THIMM SCHERTLER, jobs in our region can be secured and expanded in the long term." With its extension building, the company is responding to the increased demands against the backdrop of its growth. The company, which specializes in packaging systems for the automotive and automotive supplier industry as well as technology sectors, was awarded in 2014 at the Czech packaging competition "Obal roku" for its innovative bumper packaging. Höhn: "Thuringia has here another company that is on a growth trajectory through innovation and flexibility." Media information from the Thuringian Ministry of Economics, Labor and Technology dated July 31, 2014
