The city of Jena and Guangzhou's Panyu district have maintained intensive relations for many years. Since 2007, there has been a friendly cooperation between the cities with the aim of building and expanding bilateral exchange and thus deepening German-Chinese relations.
Under the title "Guangzhou meets Thuringia. The digital Panyu-Jena Day 2021", an extensive digital event took place on 03.11.2021 on the virtual exhibition platform „Flying Fair Thuringia“. Following the opening event with contributions from official representatives of the Panyu City District, the City of Jena, the Free State, and the LEG Thüringen as well as the City of Guangzhou, exciting keynote presentations on the topic of „Smart City“ followed. Subsequently, discussions and exchanges on the topics of Smart City, Life Science, Optics/Optoelectronics, Sensor Technology, as well as Science and Research took place in the interactive digital conference room. Further encounters were possible in the digital exhibition space, where approximately 40 Chinese and 40 Thuringian companies and partners presented themselves.
