Following the recent topping-out ceremony for the new factory hall, construction of a state-of-the-art logistics center at the Arnstadt site has now been initiated. The total investment for the entire expansion amounts to around 150 million euros.
On an area of 19,500 square meters, a three-story building complex is being built by 2027, the centerpiece of which is a fully automated high-bay warehouse with a height of 26 meters and a length of 123 meters. The new facility is intended not only to centrally control and analyze warehouse processes in real time, but also to significantly increase the efficiency and scalability of engine maintenance.
In addition to the warehouse, modern office and social spaces are being created, including changing rooms for around 560 employees and workplaces for over 30 staff members. The project is part of the comprehensive “xDREAM“ growth program, with which N3 aims to increase its capacity to up to 250 overhauled engines per year – a significant jump compared to the 155 engines in the previous year.
“An aircraft engine consists of up to 20,000 individual parts – each must be in the right place at the right time,” emphasizes Managing Director Stefan Landes. “With the new logistics center, we are creating the basis for future-oriented processes and further growth.“
Even today, N3 is one of the largest employers at the Erfurt Cross with around 1,100 employees. A further 100 jobs are to be added in the coming years. The investment underscores not only the shareholders' confidence in the Thuringia location, but also the strategic importance of the Erfurt Cross as a logistics hub in the center of Germany.
