The traditional company is investing around 30 million euros in modern buildings, intelligent conveyor technology, and highly automated warehouse solutions. The goal is to secure the long-term supply capability for medical aids worldwide.

The ceremony was attended by CEO Rainer Berthan, Chief Technology Officer Katharina Dietrich, and Head of Logistics Julian Musiol, as well as Thuringia's Minister of Economic Affairs Colette Boos-John, the District Administrator of the Greiz district, and the mayors of Zeulenroda and Weißendorf. “Our investments here are a clear sign of trust – in the location and above all in our employees,” emphasized Berthan.

The expansion is carried out in two construction phases: First, a two-part new building will be constructed behind the existing warehouse, then the old and new buildings will be connected and the existing logistics will be reorganized. The centerpiece is a new shuttle warehouse with space for over 45,000 containers, which are moved by more than 100 automated vehicles. It is complemented by a front-zone building with 1,200 square meters of floor space.

Completion is planned for early summer 2029 – while operations continue. With around 2,500 employees worldwide, 1,500 of them at the Zeulenroda site, Bauerfeind underscores with this project its role as a reliable partner for customers in over 70 countries and its strong commitment to the Thuringia region.

Bauerfeind's product range includes high-quality medical aids and health products that are used primarily in the fields of orthopedics, phlebology, and rehabilitation, such as bandages and orthoses, insoles, compression stockings, and special sports products for competitive athletes for injury prevention and performance enhancement. Bauerfeind is known for the combination of medical expertise, innovative technology, and high quality “Made in Germany”.
