From double world championships to biking in mines – Thuringia gets active!

The world's eyes turn to Thuringia in winter, more precisely to the winter sports resort of Oberhof: The World Championships in luge and biathlon will soon take place there. World-class athletes have frequently visited Oberhof, hosting countless World Cups and several World Championships. Just in time for the World Championships, the local sports facilities have been modernized – and there's plenty on offer for tourists as well, from an indoor ski slope that provides year-round cross-country skiing fun, to a bike park with trails of all difficulty levels, and the H2Oberhof wellness and adventure pool.

Whether biking, hiking, climbing, or paddling – there are virtually no limits to the desire for physical activity in the Free State. And not just geographically: sporting opportunities abound not only in the forest, on the water, at the climbing wall, or on the cycling track. Everyone can experience Thuringia actively, even at dizzying heights – skydiving or hiking along the treetop walkway – or, if they prefer, deep underground, biking in a mine… (hw)
