From double world championships to biking in the mine

In winter, the world looks to Thuringia, more precisely to the winter sports resort of Oberhof: The World Championships in luge and biathlon will soon take place there. The world's elite has been a guest in Oberhof many times; countless World Cups and several World Championships have been held here. Just in time for the World Championships, the local sports facilities have been modernized – there is also much for tourists, from an indoor ski hall offering year-round cross-country skiing fun, to a bike park with trails of all difficulty levels, to the H2Oberhof wellness and adventure pool.

The Double World Championships and the diverse year-round offerings in Oberhof are exemplary for the many Active offers throughout Thuringia. Whether biking, hiking, climbing, paddling – there are hardly any limits to people's urge to move in the Free State. Not spatially either: sporting offers beckon not only in the forest, on the water, on the climbing slope, or on the cycling track. Everyone can also experience Thuringia actively at the very top – at lofty heights while skydiving and on a walk along the treetop path – or, as desired, at the very bottom, deep underground while biking in the mine...
