A 26-member Indian business and science delegation from Coimbatore visited Thuringia from May 7 to 10 – after three Thuringian delegations had visited the South Indian state Tamil Nadu visited. The aim of the mutual visits is to further intensify bilateral relations in the areas of economy, science, education/youth, and interculturality. The Indian delegation was organized by GIRT Coimbatore and led by the German Consul General in India Michaela Küchler .
For the business and science representatives from India, a multi-track program was organized – for example, on Tuesday, as part of the international trade fair rapid.tech 3D in Erfurt a meeting of the German Indian Roundtable (GIRT) Thuringia took place. Here, the delegation and GIRTparticipants were welcomed by Minister of Economic Affairs Wolfgang Tiefensee, the Indian Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish and by Consul General Michaela Küchler. During a guided tour at the rapid.tech 3D discussed the role of startups and innovations in the German-Indian context.
This was followed by numerous company visits to innovative Thuringian companies and scientific institutions. On Wednesday morning, for example, the group went to Neuhaus am Rennweg for a company visit to GBneuhaus GmbH. Here, the production areas of dip and spray coating were presented to the guests, and they also exchanged views on current entrepreneurial challenges such as the shortage of skilled workers. Subsequently, the entry was made in the Golden Book in the local town church – one of the largest wooden churches in Thuringia. In parallel, the science representatives had visits to, among others, the Friedrich Schiller University , the Ernst-Abbe University of Applied Sciences, the Erfurt University of Applied Sciences and the Technical University of Ilmenau on the agenda.
Part of the program was also the preparation of an Indian-Thuringian student exchange between the Satchidananda Jothi Nikethan International School in Coimbatore and the Königin-Luise-Gymnasium in Erfurt.
