Families with children plant trees for the climate in the Erfurt district of Hochstedt

Action weekend by LEG-Sommerschule e. V. with a diverse supporting program / Invitation to press and photo appointment on November 8, 2024 at 10:30 AM
Tree planting campaign of the LEG Summer School

ERFURT_A pleasant togetherness in nature, shining children's eyes and the delightful opportunity to do good for climate and environment – for this the first three editions of the exciting tree‑planting action of the LEG summer school 2021 in Azmannsdorf, 2022 in Töttelstädt and 2023 in Haßleben have already taken place. The community action has become a good tradition, and so this autumn it is again: to act sustainably and environmentally consciously, to learn new things and to bring something together onto the way – all that the large tree‑planting action of the LEG summer school offers . This year it takes place on Friday and Saturday, 8 and 9 November, in Hochstedt, a district in the far east of Erfurt. The plantings are carried out next to the sports field of SV Blau‑Weiß 90 Hochstedt e. V. at Sömmerdaer Straße 30. Citizens from the region are warmly invited to plant trees there with their family, with children or grandchildren on a green area and thus, together with many others, contribute to a place for more sustainability, climate‑friendliness and quality of life .

The program offers something for everyone: Planting takes place on both days in the time window from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Experts from the Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald (SDW) are on site again, providing support to all participants during the tree-planting event and supplying them with exciting information on the topic of “Tree, Forest, and Environment.” As in previous years, all young participants receive a tree-planting certificate. In addition, there is a varied supporting program for the whole family. For the first time this year, the information mobile of the Jägerschaft Erfurt e. V. will be on site during the event. The association, which is part of the “Lernort Natur” initiative of the German Hunting Association e. V., presents specimens of various native wildlife species and invites children to feel objects in touch boxes. Furthermore, on Saturday, November 9, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the neighboring Heimat- und Waidmuseum in Hochstedt will be open to all interested parties. Here, everything revolves around the cultural plant woad, from which the people of Erfurt profitably extracted the color blue from the Middle Ages into the early modern period – the woad trade was a key factor in the city's wealth for centuries. Children can learn all about the historical “blue-making” and, under guidance, dye wool with woad powder.

The event is once again organized under the motto “We plant for the climate. Your future forest. Our tree planting campaign.” by the association “LEG-Sommerschule – Companies commit to families e. V.”, which is closely connected to LEG through its board and association work. Also on board as supporters are the Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald (SDW) and the city administration of Erfurt with the district of Hochstedt. Sponsors of the campaign are the Thüringer Aufbaubank (TAB), the Stadtwerke Erfurt, the LEG subsidiary Thüringer Energie- und GreenTech-Agentur (ThEGA), and the Erfurt-based company SECONRED Newmedia GmbH. The SDW has been successfully carrying out similar campaigns throughout Germany for years. The area in Hochstedt was selected by experts. A total of 1,200 trees have been jointly financed by all partners and can now be planted.
