Digitalization works best through dialogue

Thuringia hosts the 3rd Digitalization Conference / Participants from digital agencies in Germany and Austria / Goal: Develop solutions for the future through exchange

ERFURT_ Digitalization crosses borders, and through diverse exchange, new exciting solutions can be developed in future technologies, which ultimately also benefit Thuringia: This is the guiding principle of the 3rd Digitalization Conference, which will take place on Thursday, March 17, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Arena Erfurt (Steigerwaldstadion). Interested parties can also follow the event online via streaming. The conference is organized by the Digital Agency Thuringia (DAT) and the consulting agency for digital infrastructure SBR-net Consulting AG, based in Vienna. The welcome address will be given by Thuringia's Digital Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee, on whose behalf the DAT is helping to implement the Thuringian Digital Strategy. Participants include representatives of digital agencies from Germany and Austria.

"The challenges of digitalization are diverse and multifaceted, and the exchange of experience and project-related cooperation are indispensable for developing forward-looking solutions," says Heiko Kahl, Managing Director of DAT, ahead of the event. "At the conference, we inform each other about our competencies and projects, and we seek expertise on individual topics of digitalization. Thuringia as the host benefits, like all participants, from the constructive dialogue and from working within the network." In addition to Digital Minister Tiefensee, Steffen Linnert, the City of Erfurt's Commissioner for Finance, Economy, and Digitalization, welcomes the guests. Heiko Kahl and Ernst-Olav Ruhle, Managing Director of SBR-net Consulting AG, draw a comparison of digitalization strategies at the state level. Representatives of the digital agencies of Tyrol, Lower Austria, Brandenburg, Lower Saxony, Saxony, and Saarland also give presentations on their work. Specialist topics highlighted at the conference include, among others, the opportunities of quantum technologies and digital twins in practice; one lecture compares the "digital capitals" Berlin and Vienna.

Background:
The Digital Agency Thuringia was founded on June 1, 2019 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the State Development Corporation of Thuringia mbH (LEG Thüringen). Its tasks include accelerating broadband expansion in the Free State, advancing the implementation of the Thuringian Digital Strategy, and initiating digital initiatives and projects. In addition to infrastructure expansion, it also focuses on developing ideas on how citizens, companies, or educational institutions can better utilize the emerging digital infrastructure for themselves. With their founding in 2019, the digital agencies in Thuringia and Brandenburg were the first institutions of their kind in Germany; since then, several other federal states have also established digital agencies.
